Main Street Smog Check is an authorized State of California Brake Adjustment Station and Lamp Adjustment Station.
California brake and light inspection certificates are required for re-registration of most vehicles. Certificates are not required for trailers weighing 3,000 pounds or less gross vehicle weight.
A brake and lamp inspection is also required to confirm that a vehicle which is being issued a salvage certificate is in a "safe and roadworthy" condition before being retitled.
When you "revive" a salvaged vehicle, either due to accident damage or theft of the vehicle, the California Department of Motor Vehicles considers the ownership of the vehicle to be changed, even though the owner remains the same.
The California Bureau of Automotive Repair and DMV require that a State Licensed Inspection station conduct a thorough and complete examination of these critical components which may have been possibly damaged or misaligned due to an accident or as a result of theft damage.
Not every auto repair shop is certified to perform the required adjustments. Acquiring certification means that the business has met the rigorous standards imposed by the State of California Bureau of Automotive Repair and are authorized to do the work required.
If you have a vehicle that you are planning to "revive" or re-register, be sure contact EAC, your official Brake and Lamp Adjustment Station. We are authorized with ASE certified mechanics who can get the job done right!
